Chimbu settlers squatting on National Capital District (NCD) school grounds

By on March 7, 2013

A group of people believed to be from Chimbu (Simbu) are squatting illegally on the Holy Rosary Primary School grounds at 6 Mile in the Nation’s Capital, according to a news article in the Post Courier.

School principal Bona Ine’e confirmed that four makeshift houses have been built and the people have been squatting there for almost a year now.

He said youths living there did not respect the teachers and played loud music disturbing staff who resided in the vicinity. He said the squatters are employed by the Asian owned fast food shops operating at 6 Mile.

Mr. Ine’e had asked the squatters to vacate the school area but they have refused to move. Thus he is making this public so that people and the relevant authorities can have them removed.

Ine’e said the school is not a settlement but a place of learning and the proper authorities must step in before more squatters arrive and the situations goes out of control.
