Technical and secondary schools in East New Britain (ENB) province have been suspended due a fight between students, The National reports.

According to the province’s administrator and education board chairman, Mr. Wilson Matava, several schools have been involved in fights and the authorities could not just turn a blind eye. He said this when meeting with principals and managers of technical schools last Friday.

Mr. Matava said authority had to be exercised and stamp out any illegal activities taking place. He also innocent students were being victimized and denied the opportunity to study by a minority who were involved in these activities.

Students who were caught fighting or misbehaving in public would also be arrested and charged, Mr. Matava said.

The schools involved in the fights were Kokopo Secondary School, Vunabosco Agro-Technical School, Malaguna Technical Secondary and St. Mary’s Vuvu Secondary School.
