Kerema MP Titus Pitom Bombom gave 18 new computers to schools in East Kerema and Tauri-Lakekamu local level governments while celebrating International Teachers Day at Moveave Primary School on Wednesday.

The 18 computers are part of 45 that Bombom funded under the district support improvement program (DSIP) funds for schools in Kerema electorate, Gulf.

Exercise books for every school in the electorate and 20 coffee pulpers, would be given later to the LLGs.

DSIP funding for this is K360,000.

Bombom said the computers were part of his priority initiative under the education sector of the electorate and he would distribute a computer to each school in Kerema district.

“I believe in quality education and assets like a computer will certainly help improve the schools.
“Teachers and students must care for such equipment,” Bombom said.

He congratulated all the teachers in his electorate, the Gulf province, for their commitment.

“This is International Teachers Day and you deserve to be recognized for your efforts, well done and continue the good work,” he said.

Moveave Primary School head teacher Mary Pau said it was a big boost for her administration and the school.

“I thank our MP for coming out here to present each school with a new computer set; it could not have come at a better time. On that token, I would like to congratulate all my teachers in this school and teacher colleagues in other schools for their great work.

“I know it’s tough but your persistence will continue to be a testimony to the people out there, especially the children who are our students,” she said.
