The Office of Higher Education (OHE) held a farewell lunch for one its consultants with the Labour Market Assessment (LMA) and the Technical and Vocational Education Training Skills Scholarships Program (TVETSSP), George Bopi, today. The lunch marked the end of Mr. Bopi’s contract and three year association with the OHE since 2009.

Mr. Bopi had initially been engaged by the Department of National Planning and OHE to carry out the LMA; a survey into the labour market which would create an overview of how the workforce is distributed. After the successful completion of the phase he was contracted to do, the OHE decided to retain his services with the TVETSSP.

While thanking the OHE and TVETSSP staff for organising the lunch, he said that the development of societies, countries and nations all depended on intellectual development. He said the OHE played an important part in the realisation of the Vision 2050 and commended the staff working there. Meanwhile, members of the staff shared their experiences working with Bopi including the Director General, Professor David Kavanmur.

Kavanamur said he had known Bopi for quite a while now and they had actually worked on the Vision 2050 together. He said Bopi contributed a lot to higher education. He also said that he was sure Bopi’s services would be retained once administrative matters were resolved.

Mr. Bopi was instrumental in the establishment of the TVETSSP.
