Dr. Albert Schram has been reinstated as the University of Technology’s (Unitech) Vice-Chancellor (VC) by the university council. According to The National, Schram addressed the students yesterday and informed them of this decision.
The students had vigorously protested the decision after hearing the news last week. They also called for an investigation into the administration accounts. The Office of Higher Education is preparing to set up a committee to investigate allegations raised by the students.
Schram also advised the students that Registrar Allan Sako tended in his resignation last Friday.
Meanwhile Minister for Higher Education, Research, Science & Technology, Hon. David Arore has called on any staff member intending to contest the general elections to immediately resign. Sources within the administration say this was directed at Sako and Chancellor Philip Stagg.
The students have welcomed the reinstatement.
