Alternative learning is the latest breakthroughs outside of classroom in the country intended to support literacy programs.

John Kama, director and producer of a first ever locally-produced school quiz show said this during the first production at the Ullie Beier Auditorium at the University of Papua New Guinea on Tuesday.

“The Telikom Think Tank Quiz TV show is a PNG version of ‘Who wants to be a millionaire’ that will feature school students and the public,” he said.

Kama said the Think Tank Quiz Company was a community-based local educational company specializing in providing quizzing services to schools and publicizing media and computer technology. The aim was to educate and improve one’s cognitive development in a fun and entertaining way by quizzing their general knowledge while rewarding them financially.

The first quiz show, comprising of three categories, began on Tuesday, with participants from primary and secondary schools as well as tertiary institutions in the National Capital District.

Emmanuel Samoa from POMTech was the first winner from the show.

Sponsors Telikom PNG presented prizes to the winner.

Samoa also received K200 from the quiz company. Complimentary prizes were given to other participants as well.

The quiz will be shown weekly on Kundu 2 every Monday at 7.30pm.
