Prime Minister Peter O’Neill has pledged a further K400 million to ensure that Papua New Guinea children up to Year 12 have access to free education by 2014.
Addressing supporters in Madang yesterday, O’Neill said it was his belief that providing free education was key to ensuring a better future for Papua New Guineans.
It is our plan, intention and commitment to ensure we have free education in our country for all children up to Year 12 within the next two years to help create a better future for all our people
Peter O’Neil
Educating our children means that we are creating a path for our country and developing the leaders of tomorrow.
Without an educated population, we will only continue to have issues with high unemployment, high crime rates and low morale driven by people unable to secure jobs.
We are determined to ensure that all children up to Year 10 will have access to free education by next year while children up to Year 12 will be able to benefit from free education as early as 2014.
