PNGDF focuses on human resource

The government is working hard to address morale and performance issues in the Papua New Guinea Defense Force (PNGDF).

Defense secretary John Porti told a week-long human resource management divisional workshop at Murray Barracks last week that his office was working to set up appropriate systems in place to build the force into a solid nation builder as well as an organization for the people and to work with the people.

He tasked the human resources (HR) divisional officers to set appropriate frameworks in place which would establish a platform to create a human resource action plan.

He said there was need to set up plans which could help assess and identify the issues that can then be turned into goals for the division to achieve.

Porti said the week-long management training meet was to identify and address issues affecting the morale and performance of the department and the force as a whole.

The HR division was the third to meet in recent months with the corporate affairs division beginning this week under the close supervision of Porti in series of moves by the department to address long outstanding problems affecting the organization.

The HR division also went under critical training and guidance earlier this year followed by a finance divisional training workshop and the HR management divisional workshop.
