2021 academic calendar unchanged

The 2021 academic calendar for pre-tertiary schools in the country will remain unchanged including examinations dates, according to the National Department of Education’s Secretary Dr Uke Kombra, Post Courier reports. He also urged schools to make up for the lost time when school resumes on April 9.

Dr Kombra said the suspension of classes resulted in the loss of three (3) weeks or 1400 hours for primary and 1600 hours for high schools. He said schools would add one (1) to two (2) of extra hours until the lost time is recovered.

Kombra also added that additional weekend classes extra homework could also be included to make up for lost time. He said parents must ensure that students are engaged in productive activities during the suspension.

Meanwhile, lessons are being broadcasted via television and radio and students can also use their online library at http://myhomestudy.education.gov.pg/

Normal classes are set to resume on April 9 and the following dates have been scheduled for examinations:

  • Grade 10 Written Expression Exam – June 3rd, 2021
  • Grade 12 Written Expression Exam – August 2nd, 2021
  • Grade 10 Examinations – 1 week October 11th – 15th, 2021
  • Grade 12 Examinations – 1 week October 18th – 22nd, 2021
  • Grade 8 Examinations – 4 days October 25th – 28th, 2021
