The University of Goroka‘s main campus will go into lock-down after five (5) confirmed cases of COVID-19 were detected last weekend, The National reports.
The university’s acting Vice Chancellor, Donal Gumbis, has confirmed that the five cases have been isolated at the Goroka Provincial Hospital, and all the staff and students would also undergo testing.
Gumbis also assured parents, guardians and sponsors that the university would be taking every precaution to safeguard the students including the lock-down.
As part of the precautionary measures undertaken to safeguard students and staff at the University of Goroka, a two week lock-down has been imposed.

According to the Post Courier, the university would also be limiting the movement of staff and vehicles in and out of the campus.
A Goroka based medical unit from COVID-19 Response Team in the province will collect swab samples from the staff and students.
