Schools at the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) will be providing online classes using Zoom, Post Courier reports. These faculties are the School of Law, Humanities and Social Sciences, Business and Sciences.
According to Vice Chancellor (VC) Professor Frank Griffin, it comes at a cost but is a worthy investment especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. He also said there was no reason for the academic year not to end successfully.
The university launched online classes through Zoom last year and are now bringing the full online experience to staff and students.
Professor Griffin said the university learned a lot last year despite the challenges of online learning and would improve this year. He added that it was now up to the students and teachers to think outside the box and overcome these challenges.
The university is using Zoom to deliver their classes online.
Zoom, according to Wikipedia, is an American communications technology company headquartered in San Jose, California. It provides videotelephony and online chat services through a cloud-based peer-to-peer software platform and is used for teleconferencing, telecommuting, distance education, and social relations.
