Vaccination for staff at the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) will be optional, according to The National.
The university’s Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Frank Griffin reportedly said the institution is organizing vaccination for their staff on a voluntary basis. A letter has been sent to the National Control Center’s (NCC) incident manager Dr Daoni Esorom.
Professor Griffin said staff who wished to be vaccinated would provide their information; name, age, gender and if they had any preexisting conditions. He said once the information is collated and sent to the COVID-19 center, a voluntary vaccination exercise can be conducted.
The information will be sent to the Covid-19 centre where officers will determine what cause of action to take.
Once we provide that information, they can organize vaccination of our staff who wish to be vaccinated.
It is not mandatory, it’s voluntary.
– Professor Frank Griffin
Professor Griffin said staff have been slow providing information but was hopeful to have all the information by the end of the week.
