Minister urges schools to look after new infrastructure

Jimmy Uguro, Education Minister

Education Minister Jimmy Uguro and Education Secretary Dr Uke Kombra visited two (2) schools in the Daulo district to officiate the opening of the buildings.

Mr Uguro and Dr Kombra were accompanied by Eastern Highlands Governor Peter Numu and Daulo MP Pogio Ghate.

The school infrastructure included a newly built science lab for the Daulo Secondary School worth K1 million from the National Government and four-in-one classroom for the Mando Valley Junior High School worth K400,000 from the DSIP funds.

Mr Uguro told staff, students and the community at the Daulo Secondary School that having a new science lab worth K1 million is a privilege and encouraged them to take good care of it.

Mr Uguro said for Eastern Highlands, only two (2) schools in the province were captured in the National Government budget to receive science labs, and these two are Daulo Secondary and Tarabo Day High School which was launched last year.

He said the long term objective as to why the science labs are being built in these schools comes with the aim to produce a human resource equipped with the knowledge of science.

I want these schools to use the science labs and learn as much as possible.

I also want to see these schools look after the infrastructure because it is very hard to secure financial assistance because our country is going through some tough economic times.

Mr Uguro made the same remarks at Mando Valley Junior High School and encouraged the students, staff and community to take good care of the new building.
