Study in Japan – Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship for 2022

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan offers scholarships for 2022 to Papua New Guineans in the following two categories.

RESEARCH STUDENTS

This scholarship provides graduate education in the fields of applicants’ major for the period from one and a half years or longer depending on the students’ achievement. Applicants must have completed a degree equivalent to a bachelor’s degree and must be born on or after 2 April 1987. 6 months of preparatory education in Japanese language can be offered if required.

SPECIALIZED TRAINING COLLEGES STUDENTS

This scholarship provides vocational education for the period of three years. Applicants must have completed Grade 12 (or will have completed Grade 12 by March 2022) and must be born on or after 2 April 1997. The scholarship period includes 1 year preparatory education in Japanese language. Its courses include:

  • Civil Engineering & Architecture,
  • Electrical and Electronic Engineering,
  • Mechanical Engineering,
  • Computer,
  • Business Management,
  • Cooking and Confectionery,
  • Baking,
  • Accounting and Bookkeeping,
  • Japanese/Western Dressmaking,
  • Music,
  • Design,
  • Photography,
  • Interpretation and Translation, etc.

Completed application forms with all required documents must be submitted to the Scholarships Section of the Embassy of Japan no later than 11 June 2021. Submission by email or fax is not acceptable. Submitted documents will not be returned and only shortlisted applicants will be contacted by 18 June 2021.
