Schools in Moresby North West will be suspended on polling days, says Education Minister Jimmy Uguro.
He told the Post Courier that the Electoral Commission had written to his office to ask for classes to be suspended for polling on June 2.
The Education Secretary and department have discussed it and have agreed to suspend classes for the day as polling will be taking place in the classrooms.
About five schools in the electorate will be used for polling; this includes Tokarara Secondary School, Boreboa Primary School, Gerehu Primary School and Gerehu Secondary School.
Two schools will also be used for counting; this includes Philip Aravure Primary and St. Paul’s Primary School.

Mr Uguro also called on parents and teachers to work alongside each other as the Grade 10 Written Expression exam will on June 3.
We ask for the support of parents and the community so that schools are not disrupted, again classes will only be suspended for the polling day on June 2.

Seventeen (17) elementary schools, seventeen (17) primary schools, four (4) secondary schools, one (1) national high school, two (2) vocational schools, forty (40) system schools and seven permitted schools in Moresby North West will be suspended for a day on June 2, when the electorate goes to poll to vote their new MP.
Polling for Moresby North West will begin tomorrow.
