The Minister for Education Jimmy Uguro is appealing to all teachers and education officers throughout the country to get vaccinated to protect themselves and others.
Mr Uguro called on the more than 60,000 teachers nationwide and the thousands of education officials from the Department of Education in the provinces and districts to voluntarily get vaccinated.
We need to use commonsense and do the right thing at the right time at the right place. Meaning, do the right thing to be vaccinated, at the right time when we have the opportunity to be alive and the right place is to go to the places where the vaccinations are given so we stop more deaths and make our society a COVID free place to live.
Uguro
He said the department and the ministry of Education at the Fincorp House in Waigani was in lockdown last week due to the surge in COVID-19.
He said the lock down is a wake up call for everyone to be vaccinated.
And I call on everyone, the Department of Education headquarter staff, the different divisions and sections, the Teaching Service Commission, down to the provincial education staff, the 60,000 teachers, the boards of management, parents and citizens to all make a personal decision to be vaccinated.
Make a personal decision to go and get vaccinated. You can now see people dying so why are you afraid.
Uguro
Mr Uguro said while they encourage voluntary vaccination, they would encourage strict compliance to COVID protocols at all educational facilities and offices.
Let’s use common sense. God cannot help you if you do not help yourself. We must also remember that God in his wisdom chose leaders to lead his people and he does not choose leaders to destroy his people.
So let’s look at the United State of America, their leaders have bought all the vaccines for their citizens. If they knew it was bad for their citizens why should they encourage vaccination? Similarly, back home, our leaders have that wisdom from God and we have taken the lead to be vaccinated, so why shouldn’t our people do the same and get vaccinated to protect lives?
I’m now appealing to everyone, the education officials, the teachers and the people of PNG to voluntarily get vaccination.COVID is real. You can see families, friends, workmates and your loved ones dying. Is that a joke? No its not, it’s real. It is here to stay so help yourself and stop more deaths by getting vaccinated.
Uguro
Mr Uguro said he and the Secretary for the Department of Education Dr Uke Kombra took the vaccines to say that there is nothing to fear.
