An 18-year-old grade four student who allegedly raped his class teacher at Madang’s Kamba village, has been charged by the sexual offenses squad police officers.
Madang police commander acting Supt Mazuc Rubiang said the student was refused bail and detained in the police cell awaiting his court date.
He said the community had been helping police to arrest the student and should assist by providing their statements to the police to fast track investigations.
According to the police brief, the student is from Bau village and resides at Kauris village and goes to school.
It was alleged that on Nov 23, between 6am and 7am, at the North Ambenob local level government area in Madang district, the student was armed with a bush knife, hid in the bushes along a track that his teacher used to walk to school every working day. When the teacher approached the location, he walked out of the bush, covered his face with mask and walked at the back of the woman and allegedly put the knife on her shoulder.
The teacher was shocked and when she turned around he put the bush knife on her chest, pushed her into the bush, threatening to kill her.
She was scared and tried to call out but the man covered her mouth and dragged her into the bush and raped her.

He said the teacher recognized the voice of the student and called his name but he denied it and said he was not from that area but an escapee from Beon and that he was from Bundi.
After raping the teacher, the student allegedly threatened to chop her neck if she did not run.
Acting Supt Rubiang said the teacher ran all the way to the village and cried out.
The villagers gathered around and asked but she told only one of the elderly women that she had been raped and she knew who did it because she had recognized the voice.
The villagers went to the school to confirm if he was in the school but he wasn’t.
The villagers then searched for him and captured him, and took him to the police.
The student admitted committing the offense and was detained in the police cell pending investigation.
