Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship for 2023
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan offers scholarships for 2023 to Papua New Guinean students in the following two categories:
- RESEARCH STUDENTS
This scholarship provides graduate education in the fields of applicants’ major for the period from one and a half years or longer depending on the students’ achievements.
Applicants must have completed a degree equivalent to a bachelor’s degree and must be born on or after 2 April 1988.
6 months of preparatory education in Japanese language can be offered if required. - SPECIALIZED TRAINING COLLEGE STUDENTS
This scholarship provides vocational education for the period of three (3) years.
Applicants must have completed Grade 12 (or will have completed Grade 12 by March 2023) and must be born on or after 2 April 1998.
The scholarship period includes one (1) year preparatory education in Japanese language. Its courses include Civil Engineering & Architecture, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer, Business Management, Cooking and Confectionery, Bakery, Accounting and Bookkeeping, Japanese /Western Dressmaking, Music, Design, Photography, Interpretation & Translation, etc.

Completed application forms with all required documents must be submitted to the Scholarship Section of the Embassy of Japan no later than 10 June 2022. Submission by email or fax is not acceptable. Submitted documents will not be returned and only shortlisted applicants will be contacted by 17 June, 2022.
