Students at Buluma Primary School in West New Britain’s Hoskins local level government will benefit from a brand new double classroom built by the United States army.
The K400,000 classroom was built within 21 days by the Navy construction battalion known as “Seabees”.
Governor Sasindran Muthuvel thanked the battalion, their team leader Navy Lieutenant Yonathan Abebe and US acting Ambassador D’Affairs Joseph Zadrozny.
Education is an important infrastructure and has the power to break a nation and also build it.
Muthuvel
Muthuvel said they were using education as an avenue to address social issues and were grateful for the support from the US army.
The province itself has had a long standing relationship with the US since the war days when this particular battalion was here many years back.
We are grateful and we look forward to counter-fund more of such projects with the US army going forward and also in other areas such a maritime.
Muthuvel
Muthuvel said 70 per cent of the province is maritime and requires more work to improve people’s livelihood especially in the rural island communities.
Zadrozny said they were proud to support education in PNG.
