Simbu Teachers College has successfully deployed 299 students for practical teaching in 21 primary schools early this week.
The deployment has seen between 10 and 20 students sent to rural schools like Elimbari, Bawi, Agugu,
Sirekoge, Kindiku, Kona, Mu, Koge, Nebare, Womai, Mingende, Gaima, Numunma, Kelbire, Munuma,
Prenoruka, Anigl, Wandi, Womatne, Goglme and Mirane primary schools.
Only second and third-year students involved in the practicum and will be recalled after four weeks, according to deputy principal academic Peter Kol.
Principal John Kaupa said the college has strived to produce quality (primary) teachers.
He said the college has also withstood the unprecedented pressures and disturbances from the national election.
The college was established by the Simbu Provincial Government in 2013 to train school leavers for a career in teaching. The college has so far graduated more than 3000 students of which 42 per cent are women.
The college is located on the bank of the Chimbu River, 2.5km east of Kundiawa. The Sinasina-Yongomugl district development authority, headed by the MP Kerenga Kua, has injected K200,000 into the institution for infrastructures development.
