Trauma cases are becoming prevalent in East Sepik requiring better trained frontline workers to manage successfully, a senior health official says.
East Sepik Health authority (PHA) chief executive officer Mathew Kaluvia said that 27 frontline workers at the East Sepik provincial hospital’s emergency department and the surgical team underwent a four-day training at Boram, Wewak to upgrade and enhance their skills to treat trauma cases.
Trauma cases have become a norm of late in the province, therefore, the PHA management felt it was necessary and essential to prepare our personnel.
It is the aim of the management to help our team with the necessary knowledge and skills to be attentive in attending to both major and critical casualties.
