Inflation is affecting everyone including the education sector according to Education minister Jimmy Uguro, The National reports.
Mr Uguro said factors like the Ukrainian-Russian war and climate change is affecting the cost of living. He said schools could be affected as suppliers raise the price of goods and services due to the affected supply chains.
I urged all school administration and board of governors to use the funds well.
He also urged schools to manage their funds well and thanked the government for the timely release of funds.
We thank the government for the timely release of project fees subsidy and I urged our schools to use that money wisely for nominated infrastructure based on school learning improvements plans.
Uguro also said that government funds need to be properly used and acquitted, and school administrations and boards should use the funds for school purposes only.
The government reportedly paid out K120 million to cover project fees last month with an additional K40 million to be disbursed at the end of the year.
