Education package to cater for all

Morobe Provincial Government senior professional assistant, Education Services Berrei Karlo says the estimated cost of the free education package will cost K389.5 million.

He said the costs have been calculated in which all schools from Elementary up to TVET in both rural and urban setting have been included for Morobe province.

Three private run institutions have been included in the free education schemes which are Mapex Training Institute, International Training Institute and Datec.

Mr Karlo said the three private institutions have been in partnership with the Morobe education department for sometime therefore they were included in the scheme.

One good thing about this funding is that it will also capture those schools which are open and are not registered.

We will also cater for this so that none of these schools will miss out.

While waiting for registration, we will also take them on board for the free education funding.

We have estimated the budget to K389.5 million to cater for elementary to high schools and technical schools.

The free education scheme was announced by Morobe Governor Luther Wenge during his swearing-in in August.

He said the scheme will relieve the pressure from parents who have been struggling to send their children to attend higher learning institution over the years.

He said a cheque will be made to be paid to all the education institutions in the province as tuition fees for all the students from elementary up to grade 12 as well and the government funded Gearson-Solulu scholarship program for students attending tertiary institution will be renewed.

  1. Telue Engineering Institute is also a private run Institute in Morobe Province sine 2015, which it graduated lots students with Degree in Civil Engineering so far, now is four batch of undergraduate degree program.

If MPG_Scholarship program can include three private run institution in the MPG_Scholaship package, why not consider Telue Engineering Institute as well and including in.

Most of the graduated students at Telue Engineering Institute are now working in Department of works as project engineers, site engineers and some other private companies and also contributed to the morobe government by paying tax, its not fare if students haven’t received support from Morobe Government and hence, paying tax after going through such circumstances.
