TEACHERS should not only be qualified but possess their actual certificate to teach, says Education Minister Jimmy Uguro.
Failure to do so will result in no teaching certificate being awarded to them.
Uguro
Uguro told Parliament on Friday that teachers who had not been paid had not been awarded their teaching certificates.
There are two issues affecting the teachers waiting to be registered and waiting to be paid.
The first reason is some of these teachers are forging their certificates from their relatives or other people.
The second is teachers must be qualified for teaching in the classrooms as they must obtain the necessary qualification grades.
Uguro
Uguro said teachers who forged their certificates had been detected through the system were advised to rectify the situation and prove to the Teaching Service Commission before registration.
The commission and the Education Department is in the process to rectify those teachers and I have given instruction to the commission and the department to get these issues sorted out administratively and get teachers registered and paid.
Jimmy Uguro
Uguro said teachers could not be paid until they were registered.
