Secondary school principals in National Capital District (NCD) have been challenged to implement Flexible Open Distance Education (FODE) in schools by next year.
This initiative was in line with the Government’s plan to provide education for all without leaving no one behind.
FODE principal Anthony Rayappan said this in an awareness session held last week in Port Moresby.
FODE has come a long way and it will continue to broaden only through implementation of the rollout project.
FODE is now in the process of developing a corporate plan.
Mr Anthony Rayappan, FODE principal
Fode had rolled out to seven districts so far and it aimed to reach all districts by 2025 through working closely with non-government organizations and churches.
Fode had more than 70,000 enrollments this year.
It had 300 teaching staff and 200 non-teaching staff who were committed to the development of FODE.
Sessions on the FODE rollout awareness in NCD schools were held in Port Moresby last month and a successful follow-up was conducted last week.
A total of 41 participants attended the half day conference.
Delegates from the Education Department, first assistant secretary Andrew Angobe, inclusive education Peter Kants, first assistant secretary for National Capital District education services Adrian Tapora, assistant secretary Erica Inai and other officials from FODE division.
NCD school principals and managers of vocational education training centers also attended the session.
