K10 million each would be allocated to the Mt Hagen Technical College and the Hagen Agriculture College in Western Highlands Province next month.
This was announced by the Minister for Higher Education, Research, Science, Technology and Sports Don Polye during the launching of the Hagen Technical College Strategic Management Plan in Mt Hagen last Monday.
Under my Ministry of Higher and Technical Education, the government is investing heavily into technical and vocational training (TVET).
Polye
Mr Polye said starting June 2023, a total of 10 technical colleges, including the Mt Hagen Technical and agriculture colleges would receive funding to improve their facilities, build students dormitories and staff houses to increase enrollments in the trade skills subjects.
He said the funds were from the concessional loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
This significant investment bankrolls the reform agenda I am pursuing as the Minister responsible, to ensure training in Technical Colleges meets the labor market needs and demands of our local industries both within the public and private sectors.
Polye
Mr Polye said this was a special emphasis in the investment, under ‘leave no child behind’ policy, to increase enrollments.
