Cadetship Program

The World Bank has approved a Loan of US$ 40.0 million in May 2020 to implement the PNG Agriculture Commercialization and Diversification Project (PACD) to provide additional support to the government’s investments in the sector. The project is being coordinated by the Department of Agriculture and Livestock (DAL) and implemented by the Cocoa Board of PNG and the Coffee Industry Corporation Ltd.

PACD aims to facilitate the development of competitive and diversified agriculture value chains for selected commodities in targeted provinces. This will be achieved by implementing the following project components:

  • Institutional Strengthening and Capacity Building;
  • Agriculture Feeder Roads Rehabilitation, and;
  • Productive Partnership.

This project is primarily focusing on Cocoa and Coffee and is being up-scaled to support additional value chains of coconut, spices and small livestock (pigs and chickens).

Under Component 1 of PACD, DAL is seeking Expression of Interests from recent graduates with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture and Economics or Public Policy (with minor in Economics) to be recruited as Cadets.
