The Government’s tuition fee subsidy is not for school staff or administration but for the school, says Wau-Waria MP Marsh Narewec.
During a recent development forum, Narewec told education staff that the tuition fee subsidy funding received by schools quarterly was for schools’ management and operational costs.
The subsidy is not for you to be hanging around in Lae, Bulolo or Wau.
It’s for the school.
Narewex explains
Narewec made the comment after noting that some teachers and school administration staff left their classes and traveled to town without valid reason.
The delay of the academic year or term begins with staff traveling late to school campus after a holiday break.
The funding for next year will be allocated this year, so the schools will start on time.
Next year, we are expecting all the teachers to be at the school campus before the academic year begins.
If a school did not start as expected, it won’t get the funding.
Narewec
Regarding funding, Narewec was referring to about K2 million district services improvement program (DSIP) funds given by the provincial government to the districts ever year.
He said the district would have recognized the Wau-Waria tertiary students’ association, which would be established under the development administration (DA).
The association will affiliate with the youth council.
The students will register to be members of the association at grade 11, so that they can be actively involved in youth programs.
Narewec said the idea of getting students to register as members of the association was a way to prepare them to set their path right.
