More than 240,000 students around the country will be sitting for the National Examinations next month, according to the Education Secretary Dr Uke Kombra.
These are grades 8, 10 and 12 students attending both public and private schools qualified to administer the national Examinations.
For this year the grade 10s which we are going to start first on the 09th of October, we have a total of 76 571 students from 448 schools.
That’s a week from today.
A week after the grade 10 Examinations. On the 16th of October, we are going to have the grade 12 National Examinations. That’s the upper secondary school National Examinations.
This year’s number of candidates we have according to our database is 31 252.
They are going to sit for the upper secondary school certificates examinations.
We have a total of 221 schools who will be sitting for the exams.
Dr Kombra told a press conference yesterday.
He said issues on security concerns had been taken into consideration and measures were taken.
We’ve been very concern and have been taking extra precautions to make sure that exams are secure and they are fair to everyone.
The results that we would like to see is basically based on each of the students’ talents, on commitment of studying and there is a level playing field for everyone.
Those who committed their time and effort on studies should perform well.
We don’t compromise with any form of cheating or malpractice in the examination process.
Dr Kombra
He asked citizens to report to police or school inspectors if they come across anyone illegally selling examination booklets.
He said penalty for cheating will be no issue of certificates to students being implicated.
Dr Kombra urged the private schools especially with few students to arrange with a nearby school for their students to combine to sit exams.
He added saying there are measures in place to account for schools in places where there is natural disaster or tribal fighting.
