A 19 year old male student in Port Moresby is in court for assault, The National reports.
According to the report, the student allegedly broke his aunt’s fingers with a piece of timber and then threatened her with a knife in a house they reside in at Rainbow Estate. The victim was taken to the hospital where she was told that she needed surgery for her injuries.
The perpetrator allegedly committed the crime after he was told not to insult his aunt.
Meanwhile, the perpetrator has also advised his public defender that he would no longer be needing her services. The presiding magistrate has adjourned the matter for two weeks to allow the defendant to find a new lawyer.
