Swire University Scholarships for Papua New Guineans

Swire University Scholarships (SUS) are open to:

  • High-achieving continuing undergraduate students who have attained excellent academic results and enrolled at the following institutions: University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG), University of Technology (Unitech), Pacific Adventist University (PAU) and Divine Word University (DWU).
  • Undergraduate students who are in Year 2 of their study program at the time of the announcement of awardees.

Scholarship recipients receive support over 3 years, through years 2 to 4, of their study program. SUS benefits include:

  • Payment of full tuition fees
  • On campus board and accommodation (where applicable)
  • One off return airfare from home to institution (where applicable)
  • Resource investment for study materials

Instructions to Applicants

  • You must complete your application in English.
  • Check eligibility requirements before applying. If you are ineligible and still apply, your application will be automatically eliminated.
  • All required questions on the application must be answered.
  • All necessary documents required must be attached with the application and submitted.
    Misrepresentation of information will amount to your application being disqualified.
  • You must complete the application in one-sitting and submit. You won’t be able to save your progress and continue at a later date.
  • You are only allowed to submit 1 response so ensure to take your time and fill out your application correctly.
  • Ensure you have a steady internet connection and not in an environment where you can be distracted during your application.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be a Papua New Guinean (PNG) citizen.
  • You must be in Year 2 of studies in 2024 Academic Year.
  • Currently enrolled in an Undergraduate program at any of the five institutions mentioned above.
  • Undertaking a study program in any of the following disciplines: Accounting, Business Management, Tourism & Hospitality Management, Strategic Management, Law, Environmental Health, Accounting & Entrepreneurship, IT, Computer Science, Property Studies, Architecture, Construction Management, Science, Environmental Science.
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Must be a first generation University student.
  • No previous disciplinary issues.

Required supporting documents

  • Identification documentation: NID, driver’s license, school ID card or passport bio-page.
  • Continuing/confirmation letter from institution.
  • Most recent transcript.
  • Tuition fee quotation/invoice.
  • Boarding & lodging fee quotation/invoice.
  • Two written references from two people other than relatives (e.g., Community leader, Pastor, Ward Councillor, teacher) who endorse your application.

The form will only accept the following types of files so ensure your supporting documents are saved as either documents; PDF or images.

    • These are long answer questions, required word count 75 – 100 words.

However, I just want to check with you if the current program I took can be switched or have a specialty where I can continue my studies once accepted. I am taking Health Sciences at Divine word university. I am a first-generation university student and I think this is my opportunity timing to grab this scholarship. Please do inform me if it is suitable for me to apply.

  2. WHAT ABOUT NONE SCHOOL LEAVERS AND 3 YEAR PROGRAM?
    SHOULD THERE BE ANY OPPORTUNITY GIVEN TO THIS GROUP OF STUNDENTS WHO ARE NOW WILLING AND INTERESTED TO GO FOR FURTHER STUDEIS TO UPGARED THIER CURRENT QUALITIFICATION ?IF SO PLEASE ADVICE US FROM YOUR END.
