A district in East Sepik will be sponsoring 20 students from their district to study overseas starting next year, The National reports.
Yangoru-Saussia MP, Richard Maru, said the district would sponsor K11,000 in tuition fees for 20 of their top students to study in India. He said the district would only sponsor tuition fees while parents would cater for other expenses like travel and allowances.
Maru said India was chosen because they offered quality affordable education. He added that in a recent visit to India, he saw many international students studying there because of the high quality of education.
The scholarship would also apply to students doing matriculation but was limited to students studying in the district.
