Mainohana Catholic Secondary School 2025 Graduation: K200,000 Boost for Kairuku’s Future

Kairuku, Central Province, October 1, 2025 – Mainohana Catholic Secondary School, the only secondary school in Central’s Kairuku district, celebrated its 2025 graduation ceremony last Thursday, honoring 171 Grade 10 and 82 Grade 12 students. This milestone event marked the end of the school’s internal academic year, with students now preparing for their final exams in October. Under the inspiring theme “Lighting the Path to the Future with Faith and Love,” the ceremony highlighted the school’s dedication to academic excellence and student empowerment.

A Legacy of Excellence at Mainohana

Principal Nicholas Maino announced that this year’s ceremony was the school’s 71st Grade 10 graduation and 21st Grade 12 graduation, underscoring Mainohana’s enduring role as a beacon of education in Kairuku. Maino credited the school’s success to a complete overhaul in teacher recruitment. “We’ve recruited some of the best teachers from across Papua New Guinea, leading to consistent improvements in academic performance,” he said.

Maino’s address to the graduates emphasized resilience and versatility. “Success has many paths. If one doesn’t work, have faith and explore others to achieve your dreams,” he encouraged, aligning with the school’s mission to foster both academic and personal growth.

Inspiring Words from a Proud Alumnus

Kairuku MP and Minister for Energy Peter Isoaimo, a Mainohana alumnus, served as the guest of honour, delivering a powerful message to the graduates. “Life is a purpose-driven journey. Don’t take education for granted—aim high, as nothing is impossible,” Isoaimo said. He stressed the importance of lifelong learning, noting, “Education doesn’t end at Grade 10 or 12; it’s a lifelong pursuit.”

Isoaimo also announced a significant K200,000 commitment to the school, now ready for delivery, to complete critical infrastructure projects. This investment will enhance Mainohana’s facilities, ensuring a brighter future for students in Kairuku’s only secondary school.

Building a Brighter Future for Kairuku

The K200,000 funding boost will support Mainohana’s ongoing efforts to improve its learning environment, reinforcing its role as a cornerstone of education in Central Province. The graduation ceremony celebrated not only the achievements of the 253 graduating students but also the school’s broader impact on the Kairuku community.

As Mainohana Catholic Secondary School continues to “light the path” for its students, this year’s graduation serves as a testament to the power of education, faith, and community support in shaping Papua New Guinea’s next generation of leaders.
