AIYURA, Eastern Highlands — Hard work, faith, and determination have paid off for 18-year-old Emmanuel Bainok, who has been named the Dux of STEM subjects at Aiyura National School of Excellence, NBC reports.

Emmanuel, of mixed parentage from Western and Morobe provinces, was among 280 Grade 12 students who graduated during the school’s 48th graduation ceremony.

A former student of Lae Secondary School, Emmanuel was selected to continue his studies at Aiyura for Grades 11 and 12. His dream of becoming the top student finally came true.

I’ve always dreamed of being the dux in Grade 8 and Grade 10, but I often came second or third. Being dux for the first time means everything to me and my family. It’s a truly unforgettable experience.

Emmanuel shared.

His proud parents, watching from the crowd, said their son’s self-discipline, sacrifices, and hard work had paid off.

We are so proud of him. His perseverance and faith have brought him this far.

Emmanuel attributes his success to focus, consistency, and his Christian faith, saying there’s no secret formula to academic excellence.

I just stayed committed to learning, stayed interested in my subjects, and surrounded myself with good mentors, friends, and family.

His story serves as an inspiration to other students across Papua New Guinea, proving that discipline, faith, and hard work can lead to success.
