Papua New Guinea-Australia Alumni Association (PNG-AAA) will launch its Kokopo Chapter at the University of Natural Resources & Environment’s Vudal campus on Wednesday (May 18th).
Kokopo residents who have received training in Australia are encouraged to attend the launch.
PNG-AAA secretary Lina Justin, who is employed at the university as communications lecturer, said with the establishment of the chapter, Kokopo members can put together project proposals to address issues such as PNG’s high mortality rate, land mobilization, HIV/AIDS, Climate Change, Poverty and others.
She added that members could also share ideas and knowledge, information and resources amongst themselves.
PNG-AAA aims to encourage those who have gained knowledge and skills in Australia to contribute to the growth and development of PNG; and to foster a mutually beneficial relationship between the two countries.
Mrs Justin said it is good to see PNG graduates of Australian education institutions giving back to the country what they learnt; and building networks and links amongst themselves.
The chapter will be launched by PNG-AAA president Kelly Cook. UNRE Vice Chancellor Professor Philip Siaguru will officiate as guest speaker.
