The Port Moresby Chamber of Commerce today hosted a breakfast at the Royal Papua Yacht Club to showcase the TVETSSP recipients and enlist the support of industries to engage the students as apprentices or for full employment.
The breakfast which started at 7am and ended at 9am was attended by the acting Prime Minister, Hon. Sam Abal, PNG’s Consul General in Brisbane, Mr. Paul Nerau, Minister for Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (HERST), Director General of OHERST, Dr. William Tagis, Hon. Paru Aihi, Commission for Higher Education (CHE) Chairman, Mr. Simon Kenehe, the Chinese Ambassador and other stakeholders including representatives from: the technical colleges; the National Trade and Testing Board (NATTB); Department of Labour and Employment; Education Department’s TVET section, AUSAid, and senior staff from OHERST.
Also present were some of the students who received the scholarship and TVET coordinator for the State of Queensland.
The instruments for the TVETSSP were actually signed by Hon. Abal during his time as Foreign Minister almost two years ago.
