The University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) will be launching a report titled “Diagnosing PNG’s Critical Development Constraints” on May 9 at the school’s main lecture theatre at the Waigani campus between 5 to 5:30pm.
The report is part of the Vice Chancellor’s Public Lecture series; a public forum discussing a wide range of issues by the academia, invited guests and members of the public community. The topics are based on politics, governance and security, economics, environment, population and health, development issues, education, science and technology, and arts and culture.
According to the synopsis published in the Post Courier, the report takes a look at the last decade of economic development and the growing evidence of “inequality and declining social indicators” across the country.
It also looks at the “binding constraints” preventing the economic growth translating into improved lifestyles, the lessons that can be learned and how these issues can be addressed.
The general public is invited to attend this forum and are advised to arrive early. Further information regarding the report and launching can be obtained by contacting the following:
