The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) is pleased announce its Internship Program for 2025–2026, designed to provide recent graduates and final-year students with hands-on experience in the ICT sector.
Duration & Location
The program will run from November 17, 2025 to February 9, 2026. This three-month program will be at the DICT Office located at Tisa Ruma, Level G, 1 & 2, Islander Drive, Waigani, Port Moresby.
Purpose & Objective
It offers a unique opportunity for young professionals to develop their skills, gain exposure to real-world ICT operations, and potentially secure future employment within DICT. The Primary purpose of the internship is to nurture emerging talent by immersing interns in practical work environments. Participants will be expected to apply analytical thinking, collaborate effectively in teams, and integrate their academic knowledge into professional settings. The program also facilitates networking with DICT staff and partner organizations, streamlines recruitment from the intern pool, and may offer pre-placement opportunities based on performance.
Interns will rotate across various Wings and Divisions within DICT, engaging in tasks such as conducting research, proposing innovative ideas, assisting with administrative duties and correspondence, supporting events, and completing adhoc assignments under the guidance of supervisors. This rotational structure ensures a broad understanding of DICT’s operations and fosters adaptability and initiative.
Eligibility
To be eligible, applicants must be aged between 20 and 26, currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a four-year degree program. They must demonstrate proficiency in English (both written and oral), be computer literate, and possess a basic awareness of ICT trends. Professionalism, respectfulness, and a team-oriented attitude are essential qualities for successful candidates.
Expectations
Interns are expected to adhere to a daily work schedule from 7:45 AM to 4:06 PM and comply with the Public Service General Orders and the Management Act. Any misconduct or absenteeism may result in termination and forfeiture of program benefits. At the conclusion of the internship, each participant must submit a performance report to the HR team, detailing their understanding of DICT, the areas they engaged with, key lessons learned, recommendations for improvement, and their interest in future involvement.

DICT supports its interns with a Certificate of Completion, a Reference Letter, a one-off program payment, one return ticket home (if applicable), and daily transport to the nearest bus stop. Please note that accommodation is not provided.
