Police in Madang province have arrested another student involved in criminal activities, The National reports. The 25 year old student is wanted for a string of crimes including armed robbery and murder dating back to 2018.
The student was allegedly involved in the murder of a single mother and also a burglary of K50,000 at Phil’s Rapa Club in Madang.
According to police reports, the student was with a group of intoxicated youths trying to rob vehicles at the Airport-North Coast Road roundabout when he was recognized by a patrol unit.
The student was shot and wounded as he tried to flee with his accomplices.
This is the second student to be arrested by police in Madang in the space of a week.
Last week, a 15 year old grade 5 student was arrested with a homemade firearm in his possession which prompted the provincial police commander to appeal for community leaders to take proactive approach to guiding youths.
