Shayanne starts private tutoring business

SHAYANNE Waide is the kind of guy who doesn’t sit around waiting for opportunity to knock on the door.

A practical man, he is always on the lookout, always sniffing for a bite or two of the action, or a tangle that will afford him the chance of showcasing his luminary skill set.

At 35 and still a bachelor, Mr Waide’s first cast on Facebook has attracted a sizeable crowd to his offer – tutoring in science and mathematics.

These two key subjects are his forte, and the soon-to-graduate chemist is on the road to a dream start – sharing his knowledge and skills with young people who want to upgrade their knowledge in the subjects.

This has seen him offering free tutoring to students over time, which started off as a usual get-along thing with his friends that led him to creating an income – his service slowly gained popularity and demand in his community at Tokarara, Rakatani Street, Port Moresby.

This prompted Mr Waide to create a Facebook page “Destiny Private Tutoring” where he announced his mobile tutoring service.

Two weeks ago, I put out the notice and on the first day, I received 235 shares and more than 20 calls that day.

Parents have since been calling Mr Waide and enquiring on behalf of their children.

I have no curriculum prepared.

First, I do a free introductory session with the students and basing on their needs, I write respective assessment reports with quotations to their parents.

His first four students received an introductory session and assessment reports to show their parents. Mr Waide is 35 years old and hails from Binandere in Northern Province.

A former student in mining and engineering at the Papua New Guinea University of Technology in Lae, Morobe Province, Mr Waide will instead be graduating from the University of Papua New Guinea this year with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry.

And if you are wondering about the name, yes he is related to the famous face on TV Scott Waide.
