Former lecturer among Taiwan scholarship recipients

Rai Manu who has just resigned from the PNG University of Technology as a lecturer to further his PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) in cyber security is among the four 2022 Taiwan scholarship recipients announced yesterday.

He will depart next Friday to pursue his PhD Degree program at the department of information engineering and computer science in Feng Chia University.

The university is located in Taichung, a city in the Central Taiwan which is the second most populated with approximately 2.8 million residents.

I see that the need to cyber security is new. It’s a different study altogether, and that is what I want to do. I want to do more in-depth research into cyber security so that after the completion of my studies, I have a good understanding of what cyber security is.

I can bring a solution to a government department or a business office. I can make good recommendations, what to install in their offices that can block off other intruders, after successfully completing my studies.

Having a good knowledge and understanding of what cyber security can offer, Unitech also offers cyber security in the subject.

I hope to return with much more in-depth knowledge on the content.

Mr Manu

Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Papua New Guinea representative Oliver Liao issued the scholarship certificates to Mr Manu and two other Taiwan recipients present yesterday.

Mr Liao said that the other three recipients are Pamela Ariel Matawan who will take up international affairs and diplomacy program at Ming Chuan University, Joe Bruce who will be taking up Mandarin Chinese language learning program at the National Pintung University of Science and Technology, and Jacob Alfred who has gone ahead for his master’s program in tropical agriculture and international cooperation at the National Pingtung University of Science and Technology.

A total of four students from PNG have been awarded scholarships this year.
