The final K158 million for this year’s government school fee assistance will be released to schools this week said Education Minister Jimmy Uguro.
The government has put in a lot of money to help solve the school fee problem.
Sometime this week, we will deliver K158 million to the schools throughout the country.
Mr Uguro said at the grade 12 graduation ceremony at Gordon Secondary School in Port Moresby yesterday.
He said the K158 million is the final payment out of the K623 million allocated for this year’s school fees.
The government is helping you parents by paying 100 per cent school fees.
And I would like to thank the honourable Prime Minister of this country. This is the government that cares for our students’ future.
We parents must also play our part to ensure that all students graduating today must have a space in university or college.
Mr Uguro
He urged the parents to continue supporting their children who missed out on the 2023 placements in the higher learning institutions because of low grades to ensure their children upgrade their results and reapply in the following years.
This year, the government has committed a total of K632 million to pay school fee of students attending elementary, primary, National School of Excellence, Secondary, Resource Centres, Technical Educational Vocational Centres and Flexible Open Distance Education.
