Fatima Secondary School in Jiwaka province graduated more than 400 grade 10 and 12 students at its dual graduation ceremony at the school on Monday.
The 53rd grade 10 and 27th grade 12 dual graduation ceremony saw 266 grade 10 and 193 grade 12 students graduate and attaining their certificates.
The Grade 10 dux award went to Jerolyn Rama, the Grade 12 science dux award was won by Bernadette Yame, while Jill Andy collected the social science dux award and Maclain Youl claimed the technology dux award.
The other special awards were awarded to Kelly Kunumb (leadership award), Mitchelle Agudiyosi (leadership award), Alfred Buka (Archbishop Douglas Young award), Noel Paul (Edmund Rice award), Robert Bob (good citizen award), and Jerolyn Rama ( Fr Peter Van Handrichem award).
Principal Valentino Maiyo encouraged the students to aim high.
He told the graduating students that they had inseparable values because they had been equipped with knowledge, skills and values that would guide and nourish their mind, body and spirit.
He said one day the graduating students would have success stories to tell because they would become cornerstones in building a vibrant and united nation.
He encouraged them not to be afraid and told them to pursue their dreams despite trials, difficulties and challenges in their life journey.
He said the graduation marks a milestone and the graduating students were ready to turn a new page in their life which demanded for greater commitment and responsibility.
