Lae, Morobe Province, has a new technical school to cater for grade 12 students who cannot continue their education.
The Christian Integrated Technical Institute is a new school with the status of a permitted school accredited by the Department of Education.
The institute offers courses starting with certificate and diploma in business management and trade skills.
The certificate program started this year where 25 students graduated over the weekend.
A senior Morobe Provincial Education officer Dominic Jafuve, while officiating at the graduation of 25 students with certificates in basic business management and trade courses on Saturday also opened the new school.
He said technical education is the heart of the country and congratulated the institute for being a partner to the government in integral human development.
Courses the institute offer in business management are, human resource management, business management and accounting, sales and marketing, tourism and hospitality.
Programs in trade courses include electrical engineering, heavy equipment fitters, mechanical engineering, and building construction.
In 2022 certificate courses were offered, diploma courses are scheduled to next year.
Mr Jafuve said in Morobe there are 34 schools of which eight are permitted schools.
He congratulated Christian Integrated School to advance into technical education in meeting the needs of grade 12 students who would not find spaces in tertiary learning and training institutions.
The opening of the institute, located along the West Taraka road, was witnessed by the staff and students, the directors of the school, and other invited officials and members of the community.
