Schools must teach business, says minister

Education Minister, Jimmy Uguro

Education Minister Jimmy Uguro says all schools in the country must integrate business and commerce teaching with the micro, small and medium enterprise concept.

Uguro said this while delivering a report on his department in Parliament yesterday.

He said this also needed to be emphasized at the teachers colleges and other institutions that trained teachers.

These are dovetailed with the National Education Policy 2020 to 2029.

Uguro said this was one of the Government’s twin goals to improve excess to education to Grade 12 by 2027 and to deliver quality education.

He said this would be made possible through collaborative work between all levels of Government, parents and students.

Uguro told The National that the technical and vocational schools were also encouraged to teach agriculture.

He said PNG had many natural resources that could be managed and used by locals, with such lessons being taught in schools and would be helpful for coming generations.
