Automatic pay suspension for teachers set for March

The date for the automatic pay suspension of teachers is set for next month, according to the Education Secretary Dr Uke Kombra.

The date for the auto-suspension of teachers on payroll will remain for pay period number five.

This week is pay number four of 2023. This means that pay number five is the following fortnight.

Those whose Resumption of Duty Summary Sheets (RODSS) are yet to reach the headquarters of the Education Department after pay period five are expecting pay suspension.

This annual filtering process normally sees up to more than 10,000 payees being put off the payroll to ensure that only those who are currently teaching with RODSS signed by the authorities are on pay this year.

Dr Kombra

Dr Kombra said the salary section is still operating at the PNG Education Institute and the dates that are set in the auto-suspension remain unchanged.

The work is progressing, we will not look at any chance but for now the date that I’m not too sure but its pay number five (of 2023).

It will remain until such time when we come closer (to the auto suspension date). We’ll make adjustments to make decisions to defer it or otherwise, but we will not change at this point.

Kombra

The Teaching Service Commission chairman, Samson Wangihomie is calling on all teachers who wanted to teach this year to fill out a RODSS.

All teachers must take up appointments.

Those denied tenure positions must still take up appointments and later appeal. This is so that all of them are maintained on the payroll.
