Yangoru Saussia to have fourth secondary school

Yangoru Saussia MP and Minister for National Planning and Monitoring

A fourth secondary school is expected in the Yangoru Saussia district, East Sepik province.

This is to save students from commuting to other districts and provinces in search of education.

This announcement was made last Friday by Yangoru Saussia MP and Minister for National Planning and Monitoring Richard Maru (pictured) at a press conference.

He said he is elated by the Grade 10 results for 2022 and is looking forward to acquiring a new secondary school for the people of Winge and the district.

Winge high school will be upgraded to a secondary school, however; it depends on the landmass, location and many other requirements that can be met in order for a secondary school to be established.

There are four high schools and three secondary schools in the district but I want to invest in another secondary school and possibly a university to save costs.

I am now waiting for the school designs, costs of boarding facilities and other necessities to consider whether to upgrade Winge high school to a secondary school.

This also comes back to the students travelling to universities outside which is costly.

The UPNG Centre at the district offers bachelor’s degree programs and it is also cost efficient, hence; next year we are expecting double enrollment from students.
