Ok Tedi Development Foundation (OTDF) is the legal entity that manages community development benefits from Ok Tedi Mine operations on behalf of the people of the 158 Community Mine Continuation Agreement (CMCA) villages. OTDF is a not-for-profit organization operating independently of Ok Tedi Mining Limited since 2010, and delivers projects and services to communities through a unique partnership between mining, the people and government of Papua New Guinea. ODTF is mandated to ensure wise and sustainable use of the wealth created from mining operations for the betterment of future generations of Western Province.
ODTF os offering 4 scholarship positions (2 Engine Cadets and 2 Deck Cadets) under our Maritime Cadetship Program. ODTF’s Maritime Scholarship Program was initiated in 2013 with the strong vision to increase Ok Tedi Educational footprint in Western Province. This scholarship program is delivered in partnership with Ok Tedi Mining Limited and P&O Services (PNG) Ltd.
Successful candidates will have enormous opportunity to build their career in the maritime industry, enhance interpersonal skills, establish professional networks and expand on career goals. The cadets will be sponsored to undertake studies in the PNG Maritime College and will undergo sea time experience with P&O and Ok Tedi vessels as part of the long term investment prospect for developing future Marine Captains and Marine Engineers.
Applicants must be strictly from Western Province. Interested applicants must comply with the following:
ENGINEER CADET / DECK CADET
The applicants must:
- Have successfully completed Grade 12 or Adult Matriculation program between 2018 & 2021.
- Have C Grades or above in English, Math A/B, Chemistry, Physics, Biology & History with GPA of 2.5 and above.
- Have a clean police and community behavioral record.

- Educational qualifications
- Police clearance report
- Fully completed and signed ODTF Maritime Scholarship Application Form.
NOTE:
- We will not accept any student from Grade 10 level of education
- We will only accept new students in the Maritime field
- Females are encouraged to apply for Maritime Cadetship program
- Medical checks will be arranged onsite for successful candidates
