Morobe Provincial Government has announced free education for the students in Morobe Province starting next academic year in 2023.
Morobe Governor Luther Wenge told the people of Morobe during the swearing-in ceremony of the new Tutumang members at Tutumang House in Lae early this month.
Morobe provincial government will pay for the school fees for school children from elementary up to grade 12 in the education institutions in the province next year.
The government will take on the responsibility of paying for the school fees for all the students whether you are from the Highlands, Southern, Momase or New Guinea Islands region and are residing and working and paying taxes in the province.
The Morobe provincial government funded Gearson-Solulu scholarship program for students attending tertiary institutions will also be renewed to cater for the students scoring good marks to be sponsored by the provincial government to attend universities and tertiary institutions in the country.

He said the government will relieve the pressure from the parents who have been struggling to send their children to attend higher learning institutions over the years.
He said after the handing down of the provincial budget a cheque will be made to be paid to all the education institutions in the province as tuition fees for all the students from elementary up to grade 12 next year.
Many struggling parents thanked Governor Wenge and said the initiative taken by Morobe provincial government will take the school fee burden off their shoulders for their children starting next year.
