TVETSSP graduates first batch

58 students selected under the Technical Vocational Education Trade Skills Scholarships Programme (TVETSSP) graduated on the 16th and 17th of June in Townsville and Cairns respectively.

23 students graduated from the Barrier Reef Institute of TAFE, Townsville on the 15th while the rest graduated the next day (16th) from the Tropical North Queensland Institute of TAFE in Cairns.

The ceremony was witnessed by the acting Director General of the Office of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (OHERST), Dr. William Tagis, representatives from: National Planning, Mr. Joshua Himina; AUSAid, Mr. Simon Kaldy; Papua New Guinea’s Consul General in Brisbane, Mr. Paul Nerau; the Australian High Commissioner to PNG, Mr. Ian Kermish, and; Mr. George Bopi from the TVETSSP.

The students returned to the country on the 18th and 19th and were debriefed at the Papua New Guinea Institute of Public Administration (PNGIPA) on the 20th before departing for their home provinces.

The next batch of students to leave for studies in Australia has been scheduled for the 23rd of July.
